Tawhid Academy teaches the Quran online to students across Maryland, from the first letters through to Tajweed, Hifz and Ijazah. Every lesson is private, live over video and booked in Eastern Time. Online Quran Classes in Maryland | A Lesson That Fits a Commuter's Week
Online Quran classes in Maryland are private live video lessons with a Quran teacher, booked in Eastern Time and taken from home.
Many Maryland households run on tight timetables. One parent may commute toward Washington or Baltimore, the children have school and activities, and the drive home on I-95, I-270 or the Beltway can swallow an evening. A Quran class that needs a car ride on top of all that is the first thing to slip.
An online lesson removes the ride. The teacher joins by video at the agreed hour, so the class can sit right after school or after you are home from work, with nothing to pack and nowhere to park.
Maryland also has active masjids and weekend Islamic schools, from the Washington suburbs to Baltimore and out toward Frederick, and many families already attend one. Private online lessons sit comfortably beside that. The weekend class brings community, and the private lesson gives one student a teacher who listens to every line and corrects it on the spot.

Learn Quran Online in Maryland | Six Courses, One Clear Path
A short level check in the free trial decides where each student starts, and each course picks up where the last one ends.
Noorani Qaida
The starting point for anyone new to Arabic script. Letters, their sounds and the short vowels are taught in small steps until the student can read simple words without help.
Tafseer
For students who already read with ease and now want to know what the verses mean: the setting they were revealed in, the message they carry and how to apply it.
Quran Reading for Beginners
With the letters in place, the student moves on to real verses. The teacher listens line by line and corrects mistakes the moment they appear, before they turn into habits.
Quran with Tajweed
The rules of clear recitation: where each sound is made and how long it lasts. In a live lesson the teacher can say the correction aloud and hear you try it again straight away.
Quran Memorization (Hifz)
New verses are paired with regular revision of what is already learned. The teacher sets a daily routine that matches the hours the student really has, including busy school terms.
Ijazah Program
The advanced route for students who want to finish their recitation with a qualified teacher and earn an Ijazah, a formal authorization to teach and transmit Quran recitation.
Online Quran Classes in Maryland | Matching the Course to the Student
Find the student below to see where most people begin and which plan families usually look at first.
Young children, ages 4 to 10
Most start with Noorani Qaida. The teacher’s attention stays on one child, so there is no pressure from classmates and the pace can stay gentle.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plan to consider: Starter.
Teens and school-age students
Right for students who hesitate when reading aloud or who stopped lessons for a while. The teacher finds the point where confidence dropped, rebuilds from there and works around homework and activities.
Usual start: Quran Reading or Tajweed, set by the level check. Plan to consider: Standard.
New Muslims and adult beginners
No Arabic background is needed. In a private lesson you can ask the basic questions freely and take each step at your own speed.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plans to consider: Starter or Standard.
Adults who read and want cleaner recitation
If reading is already comfortable and you want sharper pronunciation, the teacher listens as you recite and fixes each slip on the spot.
Usual start: Quran with Tajweed. Plan to consider: Intensive
These are starting points, not fixed paths. The teacher confirms the right course after a short level check in the free trial class.
Online or In-Person Class | Choosing for Your Family
Private online lessons suit families who want a steady schedule and individual correction, while a masjid or weekend school suits those who want community around the learning. Many Maryland families use both.
Online one-on-one lessons suit you if:
- commuting and school runs leave little room for another drive
- you want the whole lesson spent on your own recitation
- the student is shy in a group, or you are an adult who prefers privacy
- the teacher you want is not close to home
A masjid or local class may suit you if:
- you want classmates and a community around the learning
- a young child concentrates better with a teacher in the room
- you prefer a fixed group timetable that someone else sets
Plenty of students pair a weekend class near home with private online lessons for focused correction.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time zone are the online Quran classes in Maryland in?
Eastern Time, the same clock the whole state follows. Lessons are booked one student at a time, so you choose the hour that suits your household, whether that is before school, after the commute, in the evening or at the weekend.
Do I need to live in a particular Maryland city?
No. Lessons happen over video, so students in Baltimore, Silver Spring, Rockville, Columbia, Bowie, Frederick and everywhere else in the state join on the same terms.
Can lessons fit around a long commute or a busy school week?
Yes. Because there is no travel, a lesson can sit right after school or after you get home from work. Pick a fixed weekly slot and the teacher plans around it.
Is every lesson private?
Yes. The teacher works with one student at a time and builds each lesson around that student’s level.
My child has never read Arabic. Where do we begin?
With Noorani Qaida, which teaches the letters, their sounds and the short vowels from scratch. The Starter plan is designed for complete beginners aged 4 to 10.
How do we know which course to start with?
The teacher runs a short level check during the free trial class and suggests a starting point, so nobody has to guess.
What is Noorani Qaida?
Noorani Qaida is a beginner’s primer for reading Arabic as it appears in the Quran. It covers the letters, their sounds, the short vowels and how letters join, so a student can begin reading verses correctly.
What is Tajweed and why does it matter?
Tajweed is the set of rules for reciting the Quran correctly, including where each sound is produced and how long it is held. It is best learned with a teacher, because pronunciation mistakes are easiest to catch by ear.
How long does it take to learn to read the Quran?
It depends on where the student starts, their age and how often they practice between lessons. Someone who already knows the letters will move faster than a student starting from Noorani Qaida. After the level check in the free trial, the teacher can give a realistic picture for that student.
Is learning the Quran online as good as learning in person?
It can be, when the lesson is live and one-on-one, because the teacher hears every recitation and corrects it straight away. Pre-recorded videos cannot do that.
Can online lessons go alongside a weekend masjid or Islamic school class?
Yes, and many students do both. The weekend class brings community, and the private online lesson gives one-on-one correction on the student’s own recitation.
Can adults and new Muslims join?
Yes. Adults at any level can start, from the first letters through to Tajweed correction. The Standard and Intensive plans suit most adults.
Can we ask for a male or female teacher?
Yes. Mention your preference when you book the free trial and we will match you accordingly.
What do the plans cost?
Starter is $30 a month for three lessons a week, Standard is $40 for four and Intensive is $45 for five. A custom plan is available, and every plan begins with a free trial class.
Do you teach Hifz and Ijazah?
Yes, both live and one-on-one.
What do we need to get started?
A phone, tablet or computer, steady internet and a quiet place. Lessons run on Zoom, and we help with setup before the first class.
