Online Quran Classes in Illinois | Live One-on-One Lessons at Home
Tawhid Academy teaches the Quran online to students across Illinois, from Chicago and its suburbs to towns downstate. Every lesson is private, live on video and scheduled in Central Time. The first class is free, and we match the student with a teacher who suits their age and level.
Online Quran Classes Illinois | Built Around Real Schedules
Online Quran classes in Illinois are live, private video lessons with a Quran teacher, booked in Central Time and taken from home.
Getting to a class is often the hardest part. Expressway traffic, long suburban distances and dark winter evenings can turn a short lesson into an evening gone. Families in smaller towns face a different problem, because a qualified Quran teacher may not live nearby at all.
An online class removes both. The teacher joins by video at the time you choose, and the student needs only a screen, a Quran and a quiet corner.
Recitation improves through correction. In a one-on-one lesson the teacher hears every word, stops at the slip and has the student try again, which is why each Tawhid Academy lesson is built around a single learner.

Quran Courses in Illinois | Six Programs in a Clear Order
Noorani Qaida
For students who cannot yet read Arabic. The alphabet, letter sounds, short vowels and joined letters are taught in small stages until the student can read simple words alone.
Tafseer
For students who read comfortably and want to understand what they recite: the meaning of the verses, the context around them and the guidance they offer.
Quran Reading for Beginners
For students who know the letters and want to read real verses. The teacher follows along line by line and fixes slips on the spot, so fluency builds on correct habits.
Quran with Tajweed
For readers who want accurate pronunciation. Students learn where each letter is formed and how long a sound should last, with corrections made live as they recite.
Quran Memorization (Hifz)
New verses are paired with steady revision so earlier work does not slip away. The daily plan is sized to the time the student can honestly give.
Ijazah Program
The advanced stage, where a student completes their recitation under a qualified teacher and earns an Ijazah, a formal authorization in Quran recitation.
Online Quran Lessons for Kids and Adults | Start Where You Are
Find the learner below for the usual first course and the plan most families look at first.
Children, ages 4 to 10
Young learners begin with Noorani Qaida. Lessons lean on repetition and patience, and a teacher focused on one child means no classmates to compare with.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plan to consider: Starter.
Teenagers and school-age students
For students whose reading is hesitant or who lost the thread after a break. The teacher finds where it first became shaky and rebuilds from that point, around homework and activities.
Usual start: Quran Reading or Tajweed, chosen in the trial. Plan to consider: Standard.
Adult beginners and new Muslims
You do not need any Arabic to begin. Because the class is private, you can ask the simplest questions and go at the speed that suits you.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plans to consider: Starter or Standard.
Adults who read and want to sharpen their recitation
If reading is already comfortable and you want your pronunciation refined, the teacher listens as you recite and corrects each point as it comes up.
Usual start: Quran with Tajweed. Plan to consider: Intensive.
These are common starting points, not fixed routes. The teacher confirms the right course after listening to the student in the free trial.
Online or Masjid Class | Choosing What Fits
Private online lessons suit families who need flexible hours and close correction, while a masjid class suits those who want to learn alongside others in person. Many families use both.
Online lessons make sense when:
- the nearest good teacher is a long drive away
- work, school or sports leave only a narrow window
- you want the full lesson spent on your own recitation
- the student, or you, would rather learn in private
A masjid class may suit you better when:
- you want friends and a congregation around the learning
- a very young child concentrates better with the teacher physically present
- you like a fixed group timetable that someone else sets
A common pairing is a weekend class at the masjid for community and private online lessons during the week for careful correction.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which time zone do the Illinois classes follow?
Central Time. Each lesson is booked for one student, so you choose the hour, whether that is before work, after school or on a weekend morning.
Can I join from outside Chicago?
Yes. Lessons run over live video, so a student in Springfield, Peoria or Rockford gets the same teachers, plans and free trial as a student in Chicago.
Are the classes one-on-one?
Yes. Each lesson has one teacher and one student, and the plan follows that student’s current level rather than a group’s average.
My child cannot read Arabic yet. Where should we start?
Start with Noorani Qaida. It builds up the letters, their sounds and the short vowels from the very start, and the Starter plan is made for first-time learners aged 4 to 10.
How do I know which course is right?
In the free trial the teacher listens to the student read and recommends a first course, so there is no need to guess beforehand.
What is Noorani Qaida and who is it for?
Noorani Qaida is a primer for reading Quranic Arabic. It covers the alphabet, letter sounds, short vowels and joined letters, preparing a student to read verses from the Quran.
What does Tajweed mean?
Tajweed is the set of rules for pronouncing each letter correctly when reciting, including where the sound is formed and how long it is held. A live teacher helps because slips are easiest to hear and fix in the moment.
How long will it take my child to read the Quran?
It depends on the starting level, the child’s age and how much they practise between lessons. Someone who already knows the letters will usually move quicker than a student beginning with Qaida. The trial teacher can give a realistic estimate.
Do online lessons work as well as a class at the masjid?
They can, when the lesson is live and private, because the teacher hears each recitation and corrects it straight away. If you want community too, a weekend class at a local masjid can run alongside online lessons.
Can adults and new Muslims take classes?
Yes. Adults of any level are welcome, whether they are learning letters or polishing Tajweed. Standard and Intensive fit most adult learners.
Can I ask for a male or female teacher?
Yes. Tell us your preference on the booking form and we will arrange it.
How much do the classes cost?
Starter is $30 a month for three lessons a week, Standard is $40 for four and Intensive is $45 for five. A custom plan is available, and every plan begins with a free trial class.
Do you teach Hifz, Tafseer and Ijazah?
Yes. All three are taught live and one-on-one.
What do we need to begin?
A phone, tablet or computer, a steady internet connection and a quiet place. Lessons run on Zoom or Skype, and we help with setup before the first class.
