Online Quran Classes in New Jersey | Private Live Lessons from Home
Tawhid Academy brings live Quran lessons to families across New Jersey, from the Hudson County waterfront to the Shore and South Jersey. Each class is one teacher with one student, scheduled in Eastern Time. The first lesson is free, and we pair the student with a teacher who fits their age and level.
Online Quran Classes New Jersey | Lessons Built Around a Commuter State
Online Quran classes in New Jersey are private video lessons with a live Quran teacher, booked in Eastern Time and taken from your own living room.
Life in New Jersey runs on the clock. Many parents work in New York or Philadelphia, and a train or a Turnpike backup can bring them home just as the children are running out of energy. A class that depends on someone driving across town at 5 pm is hard to keep going.
With an online lesson, the travel disappears. The teacher joins by video at the hour you pick, and the student needs a screen, a Quran and a quiet spot. The same applies to adults who would rather study after a long workday than rush to a centre.
Good recitation comes from being corrected. In a private lesson the teacher listens to every word, stops at the mistake and asks the student to try again. That close attention is the reason each Tawhid Academy lesson is built around one learner.

Quran Courses in New Jersey | Programs, One Clear Path
The courses follow on from one another, so a student only studies what is new to them. The free trial shows which step to begin with.
Noorani Qaida
The starting point for anyone who cannot read Arabic script yet. Letters, their sounds, short vowels and joined forms are introduced in small steps until the student can read simple words without help.
Tafseer
For comfortable readers who want to know what the words mean. Lessons cover the meaning of the verses, the setting in which they were revealed and the lessons they carry.
Quran Reading for Beginners
For students who recognise the letters and want to move into actual verses. The teacher follows each line and corrects slips as they happen, so fluency grows on good habits.
Quran with Tajweed
For readers who want their recitation to be accurate. Students learn where each letter comes from and how long each sound lasts, and the teacher fixes pronunciation during the recitation itself.
Quran Memorization (Hifz)
Each new portion is matched with revision of the old, so memorized verses stay firm. The daily target is set by the time the student can realistically give.
Ijazah Program
The final stage, where a student finishes their recitation with a qualified teacher and receives an Ijazah, a formal authorization to recite the Quran.
Quran Lessons for Children and Adults in New Jersey | Find Your Starting Point
Match the learner below to the usual first course and the plan most families look at first.
Children, ages 4 to 10
Young children start with Noorani Qaida. Short, repeated practice suits their attention span, and with only the teacher on screen there is no pressure from classmates.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plan to consider: Starter.
Teenagers and school-age students
For students who stumble when reading, or who stopped for a while and lost their place. The teacher finds the point where it became uncertain and rebuilds from there, working around school and activities.
Usual start: Quran Reading or Tajweed, chosen in the trial. Plan to consider: Standard.
Adult beginners and new Muslims
question without embarrassment and move at the speed that works for you.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plans to consider: Starter or Standard.
Adults who can read and want better recitation
If reading is already comfortable and you want cleaner pronunciation, the teacher listens as you recite and points out each correction as it arises.
Usual start: Quran with Tajweed. Plan to consider: Intensive.
These are typical starting points, not fixed routes. The teacher confirms the right course after hearing the student in the free trial.
Online Lessons or a Local Masjid | Many Families Use Both
Private online lessons suit families who need flexible hours and close correction, while a masjid class suits those who want to learn alongside others in person.
Online lessons fit well when:
- the parents’ work hours make weekday driving difficult
- school, homework and sports leave a narrow window
- you want the whole lesson spent on your own recitation
- the student, or you, would feel more at ease learning in private
A masjid class may be the better fit when:
- you want the learning to come with friends and community
- a very young child focuses better with the teacher in the room
- you prefer a group timetable that someone else sets
A common mix is a weekend class at the masjid for community, plus private online lessons on weekdays for careful correction.

What Happens in a Quran Lesson | 30 to 45 Minutes, One Student
Lessons are one-on-one on Zoom or Skype and last between 30 and 45 minutes.
Recap
The class opens with a short review of the previous session, so earlier work stays fresh.
New material
The teacher introduces one new letter, rule or set of verses and practises it with the student.
Recitation
The student reads aloud while the teacher corrects pronunciation and flow.
Homework
Each lesson ends with a clear task for the week and a note on what to focus on.
Practice at Home | Small Habits That Add Up
A little practice every day does more than one long session now and then.
Ten minutes a day
Going over the assigned portion daily keeps the teacher’s corrections alive until the next lesson.
A set weekly slot
A fixed time turns the lesson into routine, which helps younger students most.
A quiet corner
Headphones and a calm room make it easier to hear exactly how the teacher pronounces each sound.
A parent nearby
For children aged 4 to 10, a parent close by in the first few weeks helps with setup and attention.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which time zone do the New Jersey classes follow?
Eastern Time. Each lesson is booked for one student, so you choose the hour, whether that is before the school bus, after school or on a weekend morning.
Can I join from South Jersey or the Shore?
Yes. Lessons run over live video, so a student in Cherry Hill or Toms River gets the same teachers, plans and free trial as a student in Newark or Jersey City.
Are the classes one-on-one?
Yes. Every lesson has one teacher and one student. The pace and the material follow that student, not a group.
My child cannot read Arabic yet. Where do we begin?
Begin with Noorani Qaida. It teaches the letters, their sounds and the short vowels step by step, and the Starter plan suits first-time learners aged 4 to 10.
How do I know which course is right?
You do not have to decide alone. In the free trial the teacher listens to the student read and suggests a first course.
What is Noorani Qaida?
Noorani Qaida is a primer for reading Quranic Arabic. It covers the alphabet, letter sounds, short vowels and how letters join, so a student can move on to reading verses.
What does Tajweed mean?
Tajweed is the set of rules for reciting each letter correctly, including where the sound comes from and how long it is held. Live lessons help because the teacher can hear a slip and correct it straight away.
How long does it take a child to learn to read the Quran?
It varies with the child’s age, starting point and practice between lessons. A child who already knows the letters usually moves faster than one starting from Qaida. The trial teacher can give a realistic estimate.
Is an online class as good as a class at the masjid?
It can be, when the lesson is live and private, because the teacher hears every recitation and corrects it on the spot. Families who want community as well often add a weekend masjid class on top of their online lessons.
Can adults and new Muslims join?
Can I choose a male or female teacher?
How much do the classes cost?
Do you teach Hifz, Tafseer and Ijazah?
What do we need to start?

Can I choose a male or female teacher?
Yes. Tell us your preference on the booking form and we will arrange it.
How much do the classes cost?
Starter is $30 a month for three lessons a week, Standard is $40 for four and Intensive is $45 for five. A custom plan is available, and every plan begins with a free trial class.
Do you teach Hifz, Tafseer and Ijazah?
Yes. All three are taught live and one-on-one.
What do we need to start?
A phone, tablet or computer, a steady internet connection and a quiet place. Lessons run on Zoom or Skype, and we help with setup before the first class.
