Online Quran Classes in California | Learn Quran Live from Home
Tawhid Academy teaches the Quran online to California students of every age. Lessons are private, live over video and booked in Pacific Time, so a class fits around school pickups, work shifts and weekends instead of competing with them. The first class is free, with a teacher matched to the student’s age and level.
Online Quran Classes in California | Built Around Your Family's Week
Online Quran classes in California are private video lessons with a live teacher, scheduled in Pacific Time and taken from home.
Few California households run on the same clock. One parent commutes, a teenager has practice after school and a younger child is asleep early. A Quran class only lasts if it can fit around all of that.
Online lessons let you pick that slot yourself. The teacher joins by video at the agreed hour, so there is no drive to a masjid or a tutor’s home, and no traffic or parking on either side of the lesson.
What the student gains is steady correction. Reading improves when a teacher listens, stops you at the mistake and has you say it again. That is why every Tawhid Academy lesson is one-on-one: the whole session goes to one student’s recitation.

Learn Quran Online in California | Six Courses, One Clear Path
Start where the student is, not where a class happens to be. A short level check decides the first course, and the later ones follow in order.
Noorani Qaida
The first stop for a student who is new to Arabic script. Letters, their sounds and the short vowels are taught in small steps until the student can sound out words without help.
Tafseer
Once reading feels comfortable, students can study what the verses mean, the background they came with and the guidance they carry.
Quran Reading for Beginners
Students who know their letters move on to reading actual verses. The teacher listens line by line and corrects slips straight away, building fluency without guesswork.
Quran with Tajweed
Learn how each letter is pronounced and how long certain sounds are held, with a teacher listening and correcting live. Hearing the fix in the moment is what makes it stay.
Quran Memorization (Hifz)
Memorization holds when new verses and revision are kept in balance. The teacher sets a daily routine that matches the time the student can realistically give, and returns to earlier verses regularly.

Online Quran Classes in California | Who Our Classes Are Built For
Find the student below to see the usual starting point and the plan most families consider first.
Young children, ages 4 to 10
A first-time learner starts with Noorani Qaida. With a teacher focused on one child, there are no classmates to keep up with and no pressure to perform in front of anyone.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plan to consider: Starter.
Teens and school-age students
For students who read hesitantly or drifted away from lessons. The teacher finds the exact point where things became shaky and rebuilds from there, around the school timetable.
Usual start: Quran Reading or Tajweed, set by the level check. Plan to consider: Standard.
New Muslims and adult beginners
No prior Arabic is expected. A private class lets you ask the basic questions freely and move at your own speed.
Usual start: Noorani Qaida. Plans to consider: Starter or Standard.
Adults who read and want cleaner recitation
If you already read the Quran and want your pronunciation corrected, the teacher listens as you recite and fixes it on the spot.
Usual start: Quran with Tajweed. Plan to consider: Intensive.
These are starting points, not fixed paths. The teacher confirms the right course after a short level check in the free trial class.
Online or Local Class | How to Decide
Private online lessons suit families who need a flexible time and focused correction, and a local class suits those who want an in-person community. The two also work well together.
Online one-on-one lessons fit well if:
- the lesson has to fit around school, work or a long commute
- you want every minute spent on your own recitation
- the student is shy in groups, or you are an adult who prefers privacy
- there is no suitable teacher close to you
A local class may fit better if:
- you want classmates and a masjid community around the learning
- a young child focuses best with a teacher in the room
- you prefer a fixed group timetable set by someone else
Many students do both: a weekend class for community, and private online lessons for focused correction.

Inside a Lesson | What Happens in 30 to 45 Minutes
Each lesson is one-on-one on Zoom or Skype and runs between 30 and 45 minutes.
Recap
The opening minutes go to the last lesson’s material, so earlier work stays fresh.
Teaching
The teacher introduces one new letter, rule or passage and works through it with you.
Recitation
You read aloud while the teacher listens and corrects pronunciation and flow.
Take-home task
Before the lesson ends, the teacher sets a task for the week and points out what to focus on.
Between Lessons | Small Habits That Help
Short, regular practice between lessons does more for a student than an occasional long session.
Practice a little each day
Even ten minutes reading the assigned portion keeps the teacher’s corrections fresh until the next lesson.
Keep the same weekly slot
A fixed time turns the class into a routine, which matters most for younger students.
Set up a quiet corner
Headphones and a quiet spot help the student hear the teacher’s pronunciation clearly.
Stay nearby with young children
For children aged 4 to 10, a parent close by during the first lessons helps with setup and with keeping attention.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time zone are the online Quran classes in?
Pacific Time. Lessons are booked one student at a time, so you choose the hour that suits your household, whether that is after school, in the evening or at the weekend.
Do I need to live in a particular California city?
No. Lessons happen over video, so students in Los Angeles, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno and everywhere else in the state join on the same terms.
Is every lesson private?
Yes. The teacher works with one student at a time and plans each lesson around that student’s level.
My child has never read Arabic. Where do we begin?
With Noorani Qaida, which teaches the letters, their sounds and the short vowels from scratch. The Starter plan is designed for absolute beginners aged 4 to 10.
How do we know which course to start with?
The teacher runs a short level check during the free trial class and recommends a starting point, so nobody has to guess.
What is Noorani Qaida?
Noorani Qaida is a beginner’s primer for reading Arabic as it appears in the Quran. It covers the letters, their sounds, the short vowels and how letters join, so a student can start reading verses correctly.
What is Tajweed and why does it matter?
Tajweed is the set of rules for reciting the Quran correctly, including where each sound is produced and how long it is held. It is best learned with a teacher, because pronunciation mistakes are easiest to catch by ear.
How long does it take to learn to read the Quran?
It depends on where the student starts, their age and how often they practice between lessons. A learner who already knows the letters will move faster than one beginning with Noorani Qaida. After the level check in the free trial, the teacher can give a realistic picture for that student.
Is learning the Quran online as good as learning in person?
It can be, when the lesson is live and one-on-one, because the teacher hears every recitation and corrects it straight away. Pre-recorded videos cannot do that. If you also want a community setting, a weekend class near you can sit alongside private online lessons.
Can adults and new Muslims join?
Yes. Adults at any level can start, from the first letters through to Tajweed correction. The Standard and Intensive plans suit most adults.
Can we ask for a male or female teacher?
Yes. Mention your preference when you book the free trial and we will match you accordingly.
What do the plans cost?
Starter is $30 a month for three lessons a week, Standard is $40 for four and Intensive is $45 for five. A custom plan is available, and every plan begins with a free trial class.
Do you teach Hifz and Ijazah?
Yes, both live and one-on-one.
What do we need to get started?
A phone, tablet or computer, steady internet and a quiet place. Lessons run on Zoom or Skype, and we help with setup before the first class.
